Crawford Hall (University of Mysore): Centenary Neoclassical Heritage (2026)
Anchoring the southern end of the majestic Krishnaraja Boulevard, Crawford Hall is an architectural triumph of late-colonial neoclassical design. Conceived to celebrate the expanding ambitions of the University of Mysore (founded in 1916 by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar), the building was financed through a generous endowment by British planter and civic benefactor Lt. Col. W.L. Crawford.
The monumental central facade features sixteen colossal Doric columns supporting a classical entablature, flanked by expansive symmetrical stone wings with dressed fine-grain granite.
