Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery (2026): Raja Ravi Varma Masterpieces & Museum Guide
Located just 500 meters west of the main Amba Vilas Palace, Jaganmohan Palace served as the royal family’s private residence after the old wooden palace was destroyed by fire in 1897. Converted into an art gallery in 1915 by Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, it stands today as one of India’s premier fine-arts repositories.
The three-story royal mansion showcases brilliant traditional Hindu wooden architecture, ornate balconies, stained glass fanlights, and an internationally renowned fine-art collection.

Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery
The primary gallery houses 16 original oil-on-canvas masterpieces by celebrated royal artist Raja Ravi Varma, including the world-famous ‘Glow of Hope’ (Lady with the Lamp), ‘Harischandra’, and portraits of Mysore monarchs.
